Formed in 1984, the Houston Hispanic Forum (HHF) is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization focused on empowering and inspiring Hispanics in the greater Houston area. The organization brings awareness to issues impacting the Hispanic community through information, dialogue, service, collaboration, and the promotion of educational achievement. HHF is best known for its annual Career and Education Day (CED) event, which just completed its 32nd year. This event brings thousands of students, families, organizations, and corporations together to learn about career and educational opportunities, as well as issues facing today’s youth.
The Board of Directors is currently searching for a dynamic, experienced leader to serve as the organization’s Executive Director. This position reports to the Board of Directors and provides vision and leadership to the organization. This is a full-time, benefits eligible position, with the opportunity to perform some work remotely. While this position follows a typical 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. work schedule with some evening and weekends, it does allow for some flexibility. Competitive salary, commensurate with education and experience.
JOB TITLE: Executive Director
GENERAL PURPOSE: Working under the direction of a Board of Directors, the Executive Director will develop and implement a plan of action to meet the annual goals and objectives of the Houston Hispanic Forum. S/he will oversee all of the organization’s activities and programs, and ensure that the organization is run in a professional and effective manner, legally, financially, and programmatically. She/he will act as an advisor to the Board of Directors on behalf of the membership and ensure that all dealings with the membership and Board of Directors are conducted fairly and to the highest level of professionalism possible. S/he will develop relationships with other non-profit organizations, government agencies, corporate and business entities, and elected and appointed officials to meet the needs of the community as identified by the HHF. S/he will direct, manage and supervise the staff and volunteers of the organization. This position calls for a creative and powerful leader with outstanding strategic planning, communication, and fundraising skills, as well as intellectual breadth and political savvy. S/he will use independent judgment in completing activities.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree and at least 3-5 years of management level experience in the non-profit sector. Has a proven track record of fund development, program management, and working with a Board of Directors. Exceptionally strong project management skills with solid multitasking experience. Excellent verbal/written communication skills and political savvy with strong relationships within the community.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree, over 5 years of experience, fluency in English and Spanish.
